Thoughts About Animals and Pain...
~~~
"People who believe that animals do not feel pain, do not understand how CRUCIAL pain is for SURVIVAL.
For those who think animals are merely creatures of INSTINCT... Instinct is neither FUNDAMENTAL NOR ADAPTIVE enough to equal PAIN.
If there was a species of cat that had 10 times the strength of a wolverine, ALL DOGS with just the INSTINCT to chase cats would be dead. It is only their ability to feel Pain that would have protected them from chasing the wolverine cats.
What does this mean? This means that every living creatuve feels pain. The lobster being boiled while still living, the mussels at the bottom of the steam pot.. ."
~ J.D.
1.Quote: "When one dolphin cut a piece from the vortex and made another ring out of the cut piece, it blew me away..."
What We're Doing : )
It is a sad, but true commentary on life how easy it is to skip over the fundamental truths of life as we grow older.
From small children, we implicitly knew and understood how animals had similar reactions and feelings to our own.
As youngsters, we had a greater closeness and connection with creatures small and large.  We loved and were greatly intrigued by them.
One day, we all entered school, and eventually took sciences such as biology. We were taught to become analytical and think of life as merely a scientific process.
We began to lose touch with our... "humanity." And, eventually, we dissected animals as if they were things... not once living beings capable of loving, fearing, hoping, enjoying, life.
We created laboratories that perpetrated awfulness upon these most innocent of beings. We became blind... and it suited our needs. So we think...
For now. As we regain our hearts, our soul, our connection with this planet called Earth,  our one and only home, perhaps we will once again realize the truth...
that life is indeed precious, and filled with all sorts of creatures that live and breathe to love, eat, have sex, play and enjoy the very things we also hold so dear...
that is, our children, our families, our friends and associates, and the pleasures of life.
EXTRAORDINARY VIDEOS - LITTLE WHITE WHALES AND DOLPHINS
Below are 4 stunning demonstrations of the great intelligence of dolphins and Baluga whales. The amazing abilities of these beautiful sea animals will astound you as you watch how they create perfectly symmetrical "bubble rings" under water, then manipulate them in the most extraordinary ways. The first video will absolutely take your breath away...
You may not ever see dolphins, whales, and other sea creatures the same, again.
3. Scientists are deeply impressed with the intelligence of dolphins at play, who blow bubble rings and skillfully manipulate them.
CONGRATULATIONS, PETA  Sept. 16, 2008
Sweet little farm piglet
Today, PETA accomplished an extraordinary task. They were able to show the world horrific goings ons in an Iowa pig farm. Most people will be unable to watch the truth and proof of what transpired in the place of great despair and abuse.
Confined Mother Pig
and Baby Piglet
It is indeed, unbearable to view. However, everyday, the investigators watched heartrending suffering of monumental proportion. No matter how painful, what the cost emotionally, physically, they endured the emotional toll for the sake of these most innocent of creatures.
The investigators, and the people that supported them, are extraordinary. Some would say, ordinary heroes accomplishing extraordinary tasks... We say, they are the best of the best. People of great dedication, great honor, great character, great goodness.
Thank you PETA. Despite negative repercussions, you all chose to go forward and do great good at such great cost. Like soldiers, you went forth willingly to fight for what you believe is right. You accomplished great, great good.
Dear Reader, please take a moment to visit their site and consider supporting them. Great thanks to you for caring, for your goodness!
PETA's Proof: Terribly cramped quarters for mother pig, sorrowful pig gazing out of cell, tails
and testicles removed with out painkillers, poor pig sprayed up the nose for 30 seconds with
toxic paint, eyeless piglet, piglets still living, left to die after being slammed on concrete floor
FOR THE CHILDREN  2008
Somewhere in the world, in the last 5 minutes, a little child just died of hunger or thirst. A devastatingly horrific statistic. Just the tiniest gift could have made all the difference in their world...
Welcome, and thank you for visiting. Any amount of help would be deeply appreciated, whether it be a dollar, a letter, a call to your Congressperson, a prayer. We have researched a small list of approved, true charities that you will find in the menu to the left. Wayne Pacelle heads up the Humane Society of the United States. Under his wise leadership and relentless dedication, the Humane Society has accomplished almost unbelievable successes for animals. He couldn't have done it without the help of untold thousands of anonymous, unsung heroes. 1 out of 30 Americans contributed to HSUS causes.  View the very special video on the right - perhaps you will be inspired as we were.
Introducing Heirloom Seeds - Click HERE **NEW**
Today's vegetables, fruits and grains are mostly grown from hybrid and/or GMO (genetically modified organisms) seed. They are attractive, but have little of the original flavor that their forefathers had. Such seed cannot reproduce, thereby ensuring that farmers are required to continuously purchase seed every season.
Many have said that produce grown with modern biochemical manipulation has little taste. Also, studies have shown that nutrient values have hugely decreased.
Heirloom seeds reproduce naturally and produce their own self reproducing seed. They are cherished and carefully preserved seeds from dedicated farmers, growers and enthusiasts that understand the extraordinary value of Nature's very best natural seed.
We are making available such seed, and we encourage you to research this very important subject.
Before we can help each other, we must be healthy and strong and feel our very best. Eating natural, organic and Heirloom fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds will help us all be kinder to ourselves, and to others.
Heirloom produce is considered the finest and most delicious and is filled with nutrition when grown organically. Feeling truly good, eating wonderful foods and having genuine health is truly blessings that we would wish for all. Click HERE to go to our seed pages.
Dearest Friend,  It will take great courage for you to
face the next page.
You may suffer greatly, reading and learning about horrific
child and animal abuse.  However, your suffering, as great
as it is, will be negligible when compared to that which the
children and animals go through on a daily basis.
Thank you for being brave, strong, valiant.
It takes extraordinary courage to educate yourself in facing
the dark side of life... and then, to do something about it.
We need you! The children and the animals need you.
Image Information and Descriptions
These images were provided by Reuters. There is a story behind each photograph. The first image is of Acehnese orphan children in Indonesia. One of them dares to smile... even as she sits amongst utter devastation. The second image is of a Monk who took in an orphan as an infant and has provided for him and raised him with love. This little child is one of the rare fortunate ones. The third image is of hungry children, possibly homeless orphans, struggling for a bit of food during a festival. The next image is of another little orphan whose family was most likely lost in the tsunami. The last image is of an overwrought Iraqi orphan youth who has been badgered and bullied by older children. He struggles to ask for kindnesses and protection. The country of Iraq has many such orphans, living a life of destitution and deprivation.
Note:  Children and Animals have great needs. Sometimes, they are taken for granted, and mistreated without reservation, continually, frequently, until their spirits are broken, their hearts and lives shattered.  Hurts that occur during childhood can last a lifetime. Those who perpetrate crimes and hurtful deeds against the innocent may not fully understand this, or, may choose to ignore this. The individuals who commit these destructive actions require much education, and much attention.
It goes without saying that every child needs to be nurtured with loving kindness, tenderness, calm and consistent teaching and discipline without fear and without prolonged suffering.  Rather than beatings and harsh words, gentle admonishments with one's "no" meaning no has much greater effect.
Story of Kind Teaching
It regards a puppy, but could involve a child, as well as a pet...  A wonderful woman bought a puppy for her family.  This little pup wanted to sleep with the children, but this was not possible due to health reasons.
The woman decided that the pup would sleep in his own bed, in the main room in the downstairs area.  The pup had other ideas.  He wanted to go upstairs, and responded to this first bed time with much zeal andpassion to rush upstairs.  Everytime he raced up the stairs, the woman would gently take him back downstairs and place him in his bed.  It must have taken over 20 times of carrying the pup to his bed, that he finally resigned himself, and went to sleep.
This went on for several days.  Soon, the pup understood that he would not be allowed to go upstairs to bed.  So, finally, at bedtime, he went into his bed, and slept peacefully, and contentedly.
The woman did not change her mind. She did not let the pup do what she did not want.  She used no harsh words or blows.  She was consistent, gentle, firm and relentless in her request.  She was also infinitely patient, and took the time necessary to teach the pup with repeated action.
The lesson is this.  You see, afterwards, whenever the woman would tell the pup "No," he knew she meant business, that her word was true.  He listened and obeyed without puppy argument or rebellion.  From then on, life was easier, filled with grace and peace for both pup and family.
If one is infinitely patient, consistent, and willing to repeat their gentle admonishment over and over again,  their No's and Yes's will be obeyed, honored with little argument.
Education is crucial.  Protection of children and animals is crucial.
All living creatures, great and small, are endowed with abilities to feel pleasure, pain, joy, love, sorrow, sadness.  If they could not experience such things, they would have been plants, fruits, vegetables.
As much as some would like to believe that children and animals do not "feel" as acutely as adult humans, they are mistaken.  Anyone who has ever had a pet, would most likely acknowledge, that, indeed, their pet has "feelings."
It is our job as stewards of this planet, that we be fair and just, that we respect all life, and that we accept Truth.  The Truth is this; cruelty and harm against the most innocent is a violation of all decency, honor, dignity and inherent nobility of spirit within us all. We must strive to nourish and maintain the best within us.  Our children are our future.  The animals are a gift, a blessing to us, and without them, life would be unimaginably barren
Life is precious beyond words.  Every young terminal patient comes to understand the extraordinariness of feeling. Of experiencing. Of loving, giving, living.
Your help is needed.  Just one phone call, one letter, once a week, once a month... could make all the difference in the world.  One phone call.  One letter.  Thank you!
"It is through giving,
that one finds, true living."
Teaching to Give, as Well as to Receive
 Teaching children how to receive, as well as
teaching children how to give, is a gift of a lifetime.
Living creatures, both human and animal, find their greatest
joy in the acts of loving, sharing, giving.
With the love of others around them, a child's heart will grow
and swell so that they will overflow with good and loving things.
These good and loving things will in turn, flow to other children
around them. And so it goes.
Join us.  Help the children. Help the Animals.
Help all those who are innocent.
Cherish and protect every living creature.
